Session description: Improving the efficiency of the existing coal-fired fleet is the fastest and most economic means to reduce CO2. This panel discussion will address the issue from various perspectives including: technical solutions currently available to generators; operational changes that can be made; economic incentives (or disincentives) currently facing generators and the regulatory obstacles preventing efficiency improvements.

Session: CARBON CAPTURE & SEQUESTRATION – AN UPDATE ON PENDING REGULATION AND PILOT PROJECTS – PANEL DISCUSSION

Session description: Capturing carbon dioxide from coal fired power plants is on the forefront of pending regulation to limit greenhouse gas emissions. This mega-session discusses current pending legislation and regulation of CO2 capture and sequestration as well as pending large scale pilot projects across North America that are targeted at resolving a range of legal, economic, and technical issues involved in long-term carbon capture and storage. Plan to attend as a blue-ribbon panel of experts discusses current and near term legislative/regulatory laws pending, large scale pilot projects in the works, and upcoming challenges.
